Students support custodian battling cancer

ENDWELL -- No-Shave November means something very special to Maine-Endwell High School, supporting one of their beloved custodians recently diagnosed with bone marrow and prostate cancer.

But despite his diagnosis, Marty Hinrichsen is in high spirits and thankful for the school's support in holding a pasta dinner and basket raffle to help offset his medical expenses.
Marty says he's just overjoyed with all the love and support from his school family.

"It's great to be here physically and to enjoy this evening.  The weather's beautiful and I hope a lot of people come out," said Hinrichsen.

"Marty's always been there for all the kids in school.  Anybody who needs advice or someone to talk to, he's always around and he's a good friend for all the students," said former M-E student Michael Lopiccolo.

Marty has worked at Maine-Endwell High School for 23 years.
