Local Author Shares Experience On Caregiving

The National Family Caregivers Association says that over 65 million Americans care for a chronically ill, disabled, or older family member.

In honor of National Family Caregivers month, a local author shared her experience. Martha Stettinius wrote her book "Inside the Dementia Epidemic": A Daughter's Memoir" about the lessons she has learned over a 7 year period while  caring for her 72 year old mother, who has dementia.

"Guilt and confusion.  No matter what decision you make for your parents as they age, you feel like maybe you're doing the wrong thing.  And it's really important to talk to other caregivers, whether it's your local office for the aging or a support group there," said author Martha Stettinius.
