Extra Mile Awards

Thursday, Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan honored some of those citizens that go the extra mile.

Ryan as well as other members of his staff and City Council honored four groups for their dedication to community service in the city.
Those honored received a key to the city, and were recognized for their work that often goes unnoticed.

"It's not too often that we say thank you. we don't say it enough for the work that often goes unnoticed in our community by so many people, not just the folks you see standing behind me, but even the folks that aren't able to join us today," said Mayor Ryan.

Mayor Ryan named November "Extra Mile Month", after after the non-profit organization that encourages people and cities to "go the extra mile."
