3rd Annual Veteran Stand Down

Some veterans when they return home from war face barriers such as finding a job or even a home. Since 1988, Stand Downs by Vietnam Veterans have helped make critical services more accessible to veterans.

This is Binghamton's third year participating in this nationwide effort, designed to assist homeless veterans and has since evolved into helping any veteran in need of assistance.

More than 40 local organizations were present to offer their help and services.

"We have a lot of guys and girls coming back. They're having troubles adjusting back to society from a military lifestyle and a lot of those include trying to find a job, co-existing with family, and trying to function on a daily basis.  Every organization that is here today is designed to help with many of those aspects," said Binghamton Vet Center Office Manager Jason Davis.

Davis said this year was the best turnout.
