Displaced Family Displeased with Living Conditions
11/12/2012 (Updated 10:50:43 PM)
According to the family, after the fire demolished their Mygatt Street home, Department of Social Services offered them assistance finding a new home.
But, the condition of their new home at 6 Main Street Terrace in Johnson City was not what they expected.
"I was in desperate situation. I had to move out. I felt like I was taken advantage of, lied to, deceived," said the unhappy tenant Donal Southerland.
"I felt I worked with the landlord. I didn't harass him until I started getting bit by bed bugs and roaches started crawling out of my sing and bath tub. There's fleas, I don't own an animal. I don't know why I have fleas in my house."
Southerland said although maintenance has fixed a few things, the biggest problems are the bugs and the plumbling problems, which he says the building manager has not acted on yet.
Fox40 will have more on this story on Tuesday.
