Dan Lamb Tours American Pipe and Plastics

The destruction brought by Hurricane Sandy is an opportunity for up-state businesses, according to Congressional Candidate Dan Lamb.

The Democrat  was in Kirkwood Friday during a stop to show his support small businesses.

Lamb toured American Pipe and Plastics in Kirkwood, which has been making PVC pipe for 30 years now and employees around 30 people.

Lamb says with many of the recovery projects underway down-state after the devastation from Hurricane Sandy, companies like American Pipe and Plastics should be considered by state, local and federal government for contracts to get the work done.

He says he'd make an effort to make that happen.

"That small businesses get a shot at federal and state contracts that are out there. This company when it comes to piping it pretty much needs to be locally sourced. So a company that's just a few hours away from New York City, or the eastern seaboard should have a good shot at competing for some of these state and federal contracts," said Dan Lamb.

PVC piping is often used to keep electronics and other equipment dry, an added layer of protection during flooding.
