Lt. Governor Robert Duffy on Hurricane Sandy

Following Governor Cuomo's cancellation of his trip to the tier on Sunday because of heavy fog the Lt. Governor was in Binghamton on Monday.

At Broome County Emergency Services, Lt. Governor Robert Duffy conferred with local authorities on preparations for the storm, and issued warnings and cautions to the local population.

"Resources are being amassed and staged in different areas.  We don't know what's going to happen until it hits but I don't think Broome County or the state could be any more prepared to respond afterwards, which I think is going to be key for us," said Lt. Governor Duffy.

"I'm going to make sure people get off the roads, stay home..because we're going to see a lot of downed power lines, we're going to see a lot of downed trees," said Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.

Sunday, Governor Cuomo declared a State of Emergency for all of New York's 62 counties, to get a head start on emergency preparations.

The Lt. Governor says don't take chances if you're caught on the roads.  It takes just a few inches of water to sweep a car away.
