Vestal Fire Department Budget Right on Target

The Vestal Town Board gave a nod of approval Tuesday to its fire department's proposed budget for 20113.

According to Fire Chief Pat McPherson, the budget calls for a very slim .0035% increase from last year.

One of the biggest challenges, McPherson said, was balancing increasing costs of maintenance for the trucks and increasing gas prices.

"We're just going to have to tighten our boot straps and do the best we can and do from there," said McPherson.  "Hopefully down the road  we have some projects coming up, and I hope the people of the Town of Vestal remembers that."

McPherson said the board is waiting for the Workmen's Comp number to be finalized, but will vote to approve the fire department budget by the end of the month.

Vestal Fire Department is a volunteer fire department.
