BU Fraternity Arrests
10/16/2012 (Updated 11:50:23 PM)
Police say officers posing as Binghamton University students, entered both houses and were charged money to drink alcohol.
Officers observed what appeared to be hundreds of obvious underage college students inside consuming alcohol. Two members of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity, and one from Tau Alpha Epsilon are charged with prohibited sales of alcohol. Aside from legal issues, the fraternities and students both face discipline from the university.
"We just received the information from the police yesterday. We're meeting with the students that were involved. We'll apply both our rules of student conduct with respect to individual discipline, and the fraternities and sororities governing document with respect to disciplining the organizations involved," said Brian Rose, Vice President of Student Affairs for BU.
Police also say they seized cash funds as evidence of alcohol sales proceeds.
