Binghamton University''s alumni weekend closed with a 5k run that will benefit graduating students.
Six years ago BU graduate and counselor Kristen Faust died, and ever since then her friends and family have run this race in her honor. The event typically raises several thousands of dollars for a scholarship for a senior interested in counseling and other helping fields.
"It's a lot of fun, it's a beautiful day out today in October. So it's worth it for a good cause," said runner Brad Cook, also the brother of a Binghamton alumnus.
"What's nice is we've endowed the scholarship now so all the money that we raise now is extra on top of the scholarship. So that's nice, it'll last in her name forever ," said Event Organizer Jennifer Hapgood.
The event organizer says this year's turnout of about 100 people was the biggest yet.
