BU Inducts Seven New Members Into Hall of Fame
10/13/2012 (Updated 10:11:53 PM)It was a proud day for the Binghamton University community and its athletic program as seven new members of the Hall of Fame were inducted.
This is the largest class inducted into the Hall of Fame in 15 years. Inductees came from a variety of sports, including swimming, wrestling, , tennis, soccer, and softball and a team physician.
President Harvey Stenger says it's a great tradition recognizing outstanding athletes even from the pre-division one days.
"I think it's great how we've transitioned from the Colonials to the Bearcats in that 16 year period and how everybody is kind of on the same team here even though we've changed names and changed division. Being a Binghamton University or a Harper College athlete is all kind of melted together. So that's another thing that makes this special." said BU President Harvey Stenger.
"Being surrounded by my family and fellow athletes like Dr. Kerr and Mr. Stark, its great to have my career recognized and I'm truly honored." said Inductee Charlene Meehle.
This weekend is homecoming at BU with different events each day, ending with the Kristen Faust inspirational 5k run and walk tomorrow morning.
