Lower School Taxes in Windsor Due to Natural Gas Pipeline
10/9/2012 (Updated 6:54:51 PM)
The laser pipeline which takes natural gas from Susquehanna County in Pennsylvania to a compressor station in Windsor has added nearly $30 million to the tax base.
The increase in value isn't adding money to the school district, it's lowering the tax rate residents are paying.
"People see that 30 million dollars in assessed value and they say wow what are you doing with all that money at the school? There is no more money our salary didn't increase just that they people who are paying their taxes now this money that they're paying reduces what the people who were here before are paying," said Jason Andrews the Superintendent of the Windsor Schools.
In July lightning struck the compressor station, causing a brief fire. However there were no injuries or property damage.
