Plentiful Pumpkin Patch
10/8/2012 (Updated 10:49:44 PM)
Despite last year's dismal pumpkin crop due to flooding, this year's pumpkin patches are plentiful.According to the co-owner of Country Wagon Produce, Andrea Eichhron, this year's thick patches of pumpkins can be attributed to the right temperatures and good weather conditions.
Eichrron said for pumpkins, a dry year is better than a wet one.
"We always plant extra because we always have animals that come out and eat them," said Eichhorn, "We might have a bad year where they don't set well. So we always plant like ten acres. We don't usually pick them all. On a good year we don't have to, on a bad year we usually do."
The Country Wagon will be holding its fall festival this weekend with a variety of free activities including hay-rides, face painting, a bounce house, and pumpkin launchings.
