Binghamton Celebrates Italian Heritage

Before Monday's parade, another honor for Italian heritage took place in Binghamton.

Mayor Matt Ryan raised the Italian flag above city hall.

Ryan was joined by members of Binghamton's Italian-American community.

Ryan said that the purpose of raising the flag was to celebrate those of Italian heritage and honor all that Italian immigrants have contributed to our country.

Ryan also said that he recognizes that Italian immigrants have flourished in all areas of public life while preserving their own Italian traditions.
