Completion Day At Broome Community College
10/3/2012 (Updated 7:07:08 PM)
The event is a SUNY-wide initiative to get students to pledge to stay with their studies long enough to get their degrees.
At BCC there was information on services that can help students stay in school and have a brighter financial future. BCC President Dr. Kevin Drumm says there are 5 million jobs available because of a lack of properly credentialed people.
"The biggest shortage across the nation is in middle-skill jobs. That's where most of the openings are and that's what Associate's Degree and certificates prepare you for, the high-technical, middle-skilled jobs," said BCC President Dr. Kevin Drumm.
Drumm went on to say the unemployment rate for college graduates is half what it is for the population at large.
