BU Student Running for County Legislature

For the second time this election season, a Binghamton University student is running for County Legislature.

Anthony Galli, a B.U. Junior, announced that he is running on the Republican ticket in the 4th Legislative District.

That seat represents part of Vestal, including the B.U. campus, and has been held by Democrat Dan Reynolds for the past decade. But the Upperclassman believes that he can bring a new energy to the Legislature.

"I mean, he's been around for 10 years and no one can deny that," said Galli. "But I think I'll just work a lot harder and I'll work a lot harder on this campaign and in office. I'm just trying to show my face as much as possible. That's ultimately the way we're going to overcome that incumbency advantage."

"I think my neighbors, who I live with, I think are going to just instinctively prefer a candidate who lives in the town, has raised a family in the town and votes and all the rest," said Reynolds.

Reynolds also added that it is good to see college students involved in politics and he hopes it is a positive campaign.
