9/25/2012 (Updated 8:57:00 PM)
This week they are getting some help. It's National Employ Older Workers Week.
The Broome-Tioga work force is welcoming people over 55 to come in for skills training and help with job hunting.
Staff members say that they're some real advantages to hiring *older* workers.
"They're not looking to climb the latter as much as younger folks, very often they tend to be very responsible and their experience in wisdom with the years," said Karen Mastronardi, the NY State Director for Experience Works.
"It gave me the knowledge as well as the skill sets to be able to continue and without it I don't know what I would have done but all of its free here at your Labor Department," said JoAnne Lysky.
Broome County has won awards from Experience Works, for hiring older workers.
