Join Fox 40 and Friends at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

The goal of a national study is to find ways to prevent cancer and people in our area have the chance to participate.

The American Cancer Society made the announcement today at the State Office Building.  They were joined by elected officials and representatives of Lourdes and UHS.  To take part you need to have never had cancer and be between 30 and 65 years old.

"We need this kind of data," said Dr. James Hayes of UHS.  "It will help us prevent cancer in the future and it will also help us anticipate cancer in people who have had environmental exposure."

"I'm very happy to be here and I'm very happy I have so many friends and so many family members," said Nancy Graver, cancer survivor.  "But I've lost so many friends and family members to cancer too so I think it's so important everybody get involved in this."

The goal is to enroll 300,000 people nationwide.

Don't forget you can help in that battle by joining Fox 40 at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.  The walk takes place at Recreation Park on September 30.
