Students & Local Dems Glued To DNC

The enthusiasm of the Democratic National Convention was contagious at Binghamton University Thursday evening.

A very excited crowd of around 200 students was on hand to watch the convention on big screens.

There had been hopes that the students would be shown on a jumbotron at the convention, but due to the change of venue for the President's speech it had to be cancelled.

Still this group of college democrats seemed pretty pumped.

We asked BU student Liz Anderson how she felt this election compared to 2008.

"I think were even more excited because we know how well President Obama has done at this point," she replied.

Over at Democratic headquarters on Court Street it was a quieter crowd.

Several dozen Democrats enjoyed refreshments and waited for local officials to arrive and the President to speak on television.

"I'm very much involved in the political philosophies of life and I'm really watching both parties go at it.  I really wish the Republican and Democratic parties would work together more and I don't see that." said Robert Gerard.

"The first time its all promise.  Now it's promise versus deed and more promise and that's where we're really coming down." said James Testani, Chairman of the Broome County Democratic Committee.
