8/28/2012 (Updated 11:01:14 PM)
The game marked the Bearcats home opener.
Vale headed in a corner kick taken by Jordan Murrell. He was stationed by the near post and one timed the ball into the net for his first goal of the season. Having defeated Albany 2-0 on Friday, the Orange is now perfect against America East teams this season.
On the defensive end, Alex Bono made three saves, including two big ones in the first half, to record his second straight solo shutout of the year.
Give Syracuse credit tonight, head coach Paul Marco said.
They had a fantastic goalkeeper tonight who made two very good saves in the first half. I thought our guys came out with great spirit and a terrific attitude but Syracuse was able to make the most of the (key) moments of the game.
Freshman Logan Calvey made his first career start for the Bearcats and finished the game with nine saves.
Syracuse outshot Binghamton 15-11 for the game.
The Bearcats head to Buffalo on Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
