Back to School for BOCES
8/28/2012 (Updated 11:07:18 PM)
The district is preparing for a number of changes that the state is implementing.
They include a new teacher evaluation system, new guidelines for student progress, and bullying prevention.
Teachers have been taking training courses during the summer, and Superintendent Allen Buyke is confident they'll be ready.
"I don't think anyone is fundamentally against the changes being made. I think if we had, had a little more control locally we would have like to have done it at a slower pace. But that's not an option so we'll go after it, attack it, and get it done," said District Super Intendant at Broome Tioga BOCES.
A staff member will be designated as the anti-bullying coordinator.
Teachers have been trained on how to identify bullying, and how to respond when it happens.
