Veronica Taft Trial Concludes: Jury Deliberations Next

The fate of the mother accused of killing her young son is about to be handed  to the jury.

The defense and the prosecution gave closing arguments on Monday at the Broome County Courthouse.

The  defense says there is not enough evidence to convict Veronica Taft of the Second Degree Murder of her son Lyric.

They say her apartment was not properly investigated for evidence, and they questioned statements of witnesses.

The prosecution reminded the jury that Child Protective Services had investigated Taft's treatment of Lyric a number of times, suggesting a pattern of abuse.

Prosecutors also said she was the last to see her son alive, and then gave conflicting stories about her routine the morning of his death.

The judge charged the jury Monday afternoon, and deliberations will begin Tuesday morning.
