Elderly Woman Dead, Five Injured in Car Crash in Dryden

According to police, at approximately 1:20pm Monday, a Chevrolet Equinox  traveling westbound on Route 79 in the Town of Dryden swerved into the eastbound lane, striking a minivan operated by 59 year old Laraine Ericson, of Newfield.

Police said though all of the individuals involved in the accident made complaints of pain and some suffered injuries.

One van passenger, 94-year old Myra Moran, was unable to recover. Moran was declared dead at the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca.

The crash is under investigation by the New York State Police.
