Binghamton Zoo Hosts Animal Olympics
7/28/2012 (Updated 11:02:03 PM)
One of the races involved about a half of dozen tortoises that were trying to make their way to the finish line. Some were being coerced with lettuce, others including Otis who won the race were coerced with sweet potatoes.
Kids also had a chance to take part in some olympic activities such as the high jump.
"We just thought it would be a great opportunity to take advantage of Olympic fever and it gives kids the opportunity to interact with the animals a little bit more" said Patti Searles, Education Curator at the Binghamton Zoo.
Kids also learned some fun facts about the animals and there were olympic medals for all of the winners.
