Storm Update-Two Tornadoes Confirmed in Southern Tier

Two confirmed e-f-1 tornadoes and a microburst in the Southern Tier.

After assessing the damage done by yesterday's destructive storms the National Weather Service in Binghamton has confirmed two tornadoes with wind speeds of more than 100 miles per hour in Elmira and in Montrose and a microburst was also confirmed in the Town of Barton in Tioga County.

One of the hardest hit areas in Broome County was Vestal.  On Friday folks were cleaning up the mess that yesterday's storms left behind.

Damage was quite extensive at Vestal Parkway and Kimble Road.  Folks were working hard all day removing fallen trees and branches from their yards.

Yesterday's winds in Vestal were estimated to be around 60 miles per hour.

There were no serious injuries in the area after Friday's storm,  Authorities say a lot of that was because locals took the warnings seriously.
