Investigators: String of Heavy Equipment Thefts Stretched Across Upstate
7/16/2012 (Updated 11:32:37 PM)A Cortland man is accused of being involved with a chain of thefts of ATV's and heavy equipment that stretched across upstate New York. The stolen property is valued at $150,000.
Detectives say the crimes started back in April when ATV's and heavy equipment were stolen from a construction business in Tioga County.
The case would ultimately take investigators to a number of upstate communities.
In Cayuga County, detectives found a stolen equipment trailer, and an excavator
Pursuing the case to Orleans County, investigators discovered a number of stolen machines.
Ultimately the stolen propery would be linked to Tioga, Cayuga, Orleans and Cortland Counties as well as the Syracuse area.
In Cayuga county, 28-year-old Dana Landsdowne of Cortland was questioned and arrested.
Police say the investigation isn't over, and they say that they expect more charges will be coming.
