Cheri Lindsey Park Pool to Remain Closed to Public Wednesday: Officials Working on Plan to Restore Order

The pool at Cheri Lindsey park will remain closed on Wednesday, as Binghamton officials determine a strategy for dealing with problems with public conduct.

Parks and Recreation Director John Whalen says he will meet with the Binghamton Police Chief Wednesday afternoon to figure out how to safely re-open the pool.

Monday night a 16-year-old girl was arrested for threatening a life guard.

Whalen says there was a similar incident on the 4th of July.

He says recreation programs scheduled to use the pool Wednesday will go on as planned, but besides that the pool will be closed.

Whalen adds that he does believe the pool will open, but he is not certain when.
