Residents In Twin Orchards Neighborhood in Vestal Hold Block Party To Celebrate Recovery After Flood

Its been a long 10 months for many residents of the Twin Orchards neighborhood in Vestal.  Their community was one of the hardest hit after last year's flood.  While some of the residents were not able to return, many were able to recover.  On Saturday they held a block party to celebrate their accomplishments.  Photojournalist Ben Stone has their story.

"It's just a get together that we've all come through. We all worked together. Everybody here's been down through--helped everyone around. We all got through most of us are in our homes and this is it. This is a thanks to everybody that's helped us out."
said Twin Orchards Resident Scott Wilcox.

"We're coming together as a family not just a community. I think there is still fear of it happening again. I know for a fact for me it is for my children, but today means alot because being able to be together and knowing that we're all in this together and sharing the same emotions it's a day for us to actually celebrate."--said Twin Orchards Resident Carolynn Grausgruber.

"We have a very, very nice neighborhood. They are like I said like a family. Not just after the flood but I've been here since '56 and everybody was like a family"said Twin Orchards Resident Barbara Stout.

"This is the start right here. We've all survived it now we're having a celebration. The kids are out we're having a great time."said Wilcox.

"If it wasn't for my neighbors I wouldn't be here. I had an apartment ready and my neighbors bailed me out. God bless my neighbors I call them my family"said Stout.
