Wlasiuk Trial: Jury Still Deliberating

Deliberation of the jury for the Peter Wlasiuk murder trial began on Friday.  After five hours, the jury has not reached a verdict.

The jury broke off around 4:00 pm Fridday afternoon without deciding if Wlasiuk is guilty or not guilty of killing his wife, Patricia back in 2002.

In closing arguments Thursday, the prosecution emphasized the physical evidence which it says shows that Wlaskiuk staged the murder of his wife to make it appear that she had drowned in Guilford Lake, after their pick-up truck plunged into the waters.

The defense portrayed the prosecution and it's witnesses as shaping the story against Wlasiuk, with testimony changed from their original statements in an attempt to get Wlasiuk, despite reasonable doubt.

On Friday, before the deliberations began, the judge instructed the panel that the outcome of past trials should not influence them.

Wlasiuk has been convicted twice before, and both of those jury verdicts were thrown out on appeal.

Deliberations in this third trial of Peter Wlasiuk are expected to resume Monday.
