Dollars for Scholars Tournament

Twelve teams of golfers played for a great cause at the Geneganslet Golf Course in Greene on Tuesday.

Blustering winds aside, participants tee'd off to help raise money for the Vestal Dollars for Scholars Foundation.

It's an organization that has awarded thousands of scholarships to recent high school graduates.

"This is probably our second-largest fundraiser. We have the phone-a-thon which raises quite a bit of funds for the program. And probably our second-biggest fundraiser is the golf outing," said event organizer Trish Ryall.

Organizers expected to raise about $3,000 from the tournament.
