Weis Markets Celebrates Grand Re-opening of Two Stores

Weis Markets unveils a multi-million dollar remodeling project.

Weis markets held a grand re-opening on Sunday.  The supermarket chain invested 3 million dollars to improve two stores, one on Hopper Road in Endwell, the other on Pennsylvania Avenue in Binghamton. Each store has a larger produce area as well as improved lighting. As part of the celebration the company donated $16,500 to local organizations.

"We've expanded our fresh department offering. We've improved the lighting with a much better layout of the store. We believe or customers are going to enjoy the improvements we've made" said Weis District Manager Mike Umstead.

"Every donation is welcomed. Our organization is funded completely by the community. We don't get federal grants or any other money " said Pam Vandling of the Animal Care Counsel.

Weis Markets run 162 stores in 5 states.
