6/23/2012 (Updated 11:35:58 PM)
Close to 30 competitors were at Crossfit Binghamton Saturday morning to push themselves to their physical limits. Half of the competitors were local residents, The other half came from Syracuse, Elmira, New York City and Pennsylvania.
Participants competed in weight lifting, pull ups, and box jumps among other events. Co-owner Patrick Skinner says the timing was right for an event to be held in Binghamton.
"We have a pretty good clientele. We had a lot of people that like working out and Crossfit competitions have become quite popular around the country. We decided we wanted to have one of our own so we could test our athletes, see how they're progressing and also invite athletes from other gyms, other areas to come out and test their fitness" said Crossfit Binghamton Co-Owner Patrick Skinner.
Skinner finished first in the Men's Heat while Binghamton residents Lori Hochdanner and Leslie Heywood tied for first in the Women's Heat. Skinner says he plans to hold the event every year while also adding one in December or January.
