Overcoming Obstacles, 18 Graduate in GED Commencement

In Johnson City Monday night, 18 students had a lot to be proud of.
Despite some tough times and personal obstacles they've had to deal with, they are now graduates.

It was the GED commencement ceremony of the Family Enrichment Network.

Those those who participated, the experience --and enrichment-- went far beyond formal lessons:

FEN's Family Literary Specialist Sandele Wenzel said:

"Students in the class meet with each other twice a week, they become friends, they become family. They even go to the the tests together and cheer each other on, so it's really a nice environment."

FEN,or, Family Enrichment Network has offered free GED preparation classes with free transportation and child care since 2005.
