Dempsey golfs for good cause; Talks Bearcats

JOHNSON CITY -- New BU's Men's b-ball head coach Tommy Dempsey made one of his first appearances in the community Thursday.

Dempsey participated in the 8th annual Hengel Sports Classic, golfing with Southern Tier Fans.

In between holes, Dempsey took time to talk with FOX 40 about his new gig.

"We have nine players in summer school right now, so I've been to work these guys out a few days a week, and to get to know them better. Sometimes just in coaching them, and pushing them, you get to know a little bit about each guy."

One thing we learned today about BU's new bench boss when we spoke with him tonight via twitter ... he might not be as good of a golfer as he is a basketball coach tweeting. "Thank God for teammates. LOL"
