Drug warnings after Colas incident

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA -- On Monday, the prosecution in the case of Vestal native and Virginia beach police officer Bradley Colas agreed not to prosecute.

Colas was charges with attempted murder after attacking two firefighters when he got into a car accident in March.

Colas said the antibiotic Biaxin caused his violent behavior.

Now the question is does such an incident change the way the drug is prescribed?

"It is our professional responsibility to report anything that we see," said Alexander Campos from the Lourdes Hospital Pharmacy.  "When an event like that happens, it does stay in the back of your head, so every time you fill that medicine you're obviously going to think about it.  Doctors go through the same thing.  It just adds to your knowledge of drug info."

Campos said Biaxin is a commonly prescribed antibiotic.
