Hinchey Endorses Lamb

(Source: Kate Thornton)

Congressman Maurice Hinchey officially endorses his top aid of more than 15 years for his seat in Washington.

Hinchey will be retiring at the end of his term because of health reasons.  He has been undergoing treatment for colon cancer.

Democrat Dan Lamb has been working for Hinchey since Hinchey's first campaign back in 1992.  Lab said he's ready to fill some pretty big shoes in the new 22nd congressional district.

"There's some history in this area.  I'm going back to 1974 of having good, strong Democrats representing this area, and I go into this opened eyed," said Lamb.

"I'm working harder than I ever had.  Working for Maurice was never easy.  You never had a moment off, in fact.  You would get calls on the weekend and at night.  You're always on.  That was never an easy job.  This is even harder.  But, I'm prepared for it."

Hinchey talked about how there will be a lot of work to be done in Congress in the next two years.  Hinchey supports Lamb's views on issues such as social security, stronger benefits for veterans, and the support for stronger school.

Hinchey said he's not thrilled about retiring at the end of his term but he's happy knowing that there is someone that he thinks the public can trust.
