Music Fest to Support The Arts - 7/31/2010

The tenth annual Tioga County Council on The Arts music festival kicked off in Hickories Park Saturday afternoon.

Eight bands took the stage in Owego to entertain those who came out to support arts in Tioga County.

This festival is the council's main fundraiser, and organizers say without community support they wouldn't be able to provide arts events.

"We try to do and sponsor the arts within Tioga County and with the money that we make here at the music feast we operate all year long, providing different events all year long thorough the area community," said Linda Vogel, the president of Tioga County Council on The Arts.

The council needs to raise about $10,000 to be able to provide all the events they have planned this year.

GRAND ISLE, La. – An offshore petroleum platform exploded and was burning Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast, west of the site where BP's undersea well spilled after a rig explosion.
