Telemedicine Brings Doctors, Patients Together - 7/30/2010
The Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has teamed up with the University of Rochester and Johns Hopkins University to offer patients a new telemedicine program.
The treatment will allow patients with Parkinson's and other Neuromuscular disorders to receive therapy from doctors at the university.
"Individuals with Parkinson's disease often find it difficult to get up, to walk independently, to go to a doctors visit is a burden at times. There are not a lot of Parkinson's disease specialties in the area if at all." said Kevin Biglan, Associate Professor of Neurology.
This form of treatment for Parkinson's allows those affected to receive higher quality of care with a better functional outcome along with a better quality of life.
