Actors Make Debut at Tri-Cities Opera - 7/30/2010

Some of the finest performers have graced the stage at the Tri-Cities Opera, and now some aspiring actors paid a visit as well.
 
A group of summer enrichment students from Harpursville got a chance to tour the opera house as well as rehearse scenes from play that they've been working on throughout the summer.

The students say assembling their own props can be a challenge.

"We usually make props for it and we'll set it up and stuff like that," said Morgan Fleming, an actor.

"Sometimes when we don't have the props done in time, we don't have the stuff we need so it gets sort of hard," said Alexis Roys, an actor.

The enrichment program culminates next week with a performance of all their plays.

 Gulf oil platform explodes, burning off La. coast
GRAND ISLE, La. – An offshore petroleum platform exploded and was burning Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast, west of the site where BP's undersea well spilled after a rig explosion.
