People Take to the Greens To Raise Money For Ice Rink - 7/30/2010
A Captain and Crew golf tournament was held today at En-Joie to benefit the skating community for opportunities in recreation and enrichment--or the SCORE.
The SCORE is looking to raise somewhere between 2 and 5 million dollars to construct an ice rink in Endicott, which has been without one since Grippen Park's rink was closed.
"Not just speaking for hockey, but skating in general, ice sports, there's certainly a lack of prime-time ice. Every year, teams and figure skaters and other people like that venture to Ithaca, Cortland, Syracuse to rent ice outside of our area," said Jim Tofte, president of The S.C.O.R.E.
The S.C.O.R.E. is also hosting a block party following Friday's tournament.
It's at the En-Joie Pavilion and goes til midnight.
Cost is ten dollars to get in.
