William Kenyon Found Guilty of Manslaughter - 7/30/2010

After 8 hours of deliberation, a jury found William Kenyon guilty of 1st degree manslaughter and criminal trespass.

They did not find him guilty of 2nd degree murder.

Kenyon, 49, is charged with the murder of his girlfriend, 46-year-old Kelly Wescott.

Wescott was found dead in her Johnson City apartment last June. She died from asphyxiation.

Kenyon is set to be sentenced on September 30th.

From Earlier:

After hearing closing arguments from the defense and prosecution, the jury began deliberations just before 1:00 Friday afternoon.

At about 4:20, the jury requested to have read back to them the testimony of two forensic pathologists.

One of them, Dr. James Terzian, testified for the prosecution, the other Dr. Elliot Gross testified for the defense. The jury wanted to hear again about the descriptions of the injuries on Wescott's nec, and the necklace she was wearing at the time of her death. Wescott was found dead from asphyxiation in her apartment on floral ave last year.

In closing arguments, the prosecution reviewed the evidence of video recordings in the patrol car Kenyon was placed in along and he said quote, " some n-word are real, some n-word are fake.I am a real mother f-word. I will put a hole in you in a minute."

Later in the interview room at the Johnson City police department, kenyon was again alone and said, "I kileld her f-her, Fing B made me mad."

The defense argued that Kenyon was too intoxicated to have the intent to kill Wescott.
