Woman Charged After Allegedly Snatching Purses - 7/28/2010

Four months after a string of purse snatchings began at area shopping centers, a local woman has been charged.

Police say 60 year-old Linda Reed of Binghamton targeted women in Walmart at the Town Square Mall, and at Weis' at Rano Boulevard.

She's accused of stealing her victim's wallets and purses.

Authorities say Reed stole a total of $600 and 15 credit cards. She's charged with grand larceny.

GRAND ISLE, La. – An offshore petroleum platform exploded and was burning Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast, west of the site where BP's undersea well spilled after a rig explosion.
