Kids Learn to Choreograph and Perform Their Own Dances - 7/28/2010

The Galumpha Dance Company is holding its 3rd annual dance camp for kids and teenagers 7-18.

The 28 kids taking part in the 2 week camp and experiencing a different kind of dance camp.

The kids come up with the performances through team work.

The instructors teach them basic dance and acrobatics skills, and then, it's up to them.

"We say okay if this is one way to lift what might be another way, and the kids just go off an experiment, and they run wild with it. They come back to us with things we've never seen before, and to show me something I’ve never seen before after I’ve been on stage for the last 30 years is quite an accomplishment," said Andy Horowitz, the Director of the Galumpha Dance Company.
 
The kids' hard work will pay off on August 6th when they perform two shows at the Gruber Theater on Binghamton University's Campus.

GRAND ISLE, La. – An offshore petroleum platform exploded and was burning Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast, west of the site where BP's undersea well spilled after a rig explosion.
