Kids Visit Hospital Morgue - 7/28/2010
This was thanks to the 2-day Medical Academy of Science and Health, or MASH Camp.
The camp is designed to promote health professions to young people before they select high school courses.
The 8th and 9th grade camp attendees participated in activities to learn about pharmacy, radiology, surgery, and they even got to visit the morgue.
"The important thing for it is just to be exposed to all the different possibilities for health careers. most students in 8th or 9th grade they know nurses and doctors and to be exposed to things that are usually behind the scenes are just as important as doctors and nurses and to get a whole rep of the health care industry." said Amy Becker-George, Program Manager.
The 2-day camp is co-sponsored by Lourdes Hospital, the Central New York Area Health Education Center, and Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield.
