Student Housing Moving Along Smoothly - 7/27/2010

No hitches in the process to build the new student housing units on the corner of Washington Street and Riverside in downtown Binghamton.

Binghamton University says the housing has already received municipal approval  and all the correct permits have been received.

119 apartments will be available to house 376 students.

Every unit comes fully furnished and includes a full kitchen.

"Certainly bringing new students into the city, having them walk the streets, taking advantage of all the great resources and assets that are already here in the city, its really a win-win." said Jeff Smetana

The main construction will begin in the in the coming month and is expected to be ready to house students by August of 2011

 Gulf oil platform explodes, burning off La. coast
GRAND ISLE, La. – An offshore petroleum platform exploded and was burning Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast, west of the site where BP's undersea well spilled after a rig explosion.
