Free Dental Care at Lalor Creekside Dental - 5/8/2010

With unemployment numbers barely improving, more people are relying on free health and dental care clinics.

Saturday, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Lalor Creekside Dental is offering dental care to over one hundred people right here in Vestal, NY.

People began to line up at 8 a.m., hoping they'd be among the patients to get one free cleaning, filling or extraction.

Patients say they wouldn't be able to afford dental care without clinics like this.

"I think it's great because it helps people to ensure themselves.  They can get their teeth cleaned and get them fixed or whatever," said Linda Briggs, a patient.

"A lot of people have lost their dental insurance, recently, and even if they do have dental insurance, it doesn't always cover everything. So, we really encourage people who need treatment to come in," said Kimberly Kocak, Dental Assistant at Lalor Creekside Dental.

Lalor Creekside Dental partnered with the non-profit group Dentistry from the Heart to provide free care. This is their second annual event.

Lalor Creekside Dental is located at 2521 Vestal Parkway West.

GRAND ISLE, La. – An offshore petroleum platform exploded and was burning Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast, west of the site where BP's undersea well spilled after a rig explosion.
