Nursing Students Train For Disasters - 5/3/2010
Decker School of Nursing students took part in the annual disaster drill.
They treated patients who were victims of two simulated disasters, a bus accident and gas leak.
The nurses-in-training say the event is a good chance to collaborate with EMT and pre-med students, as well as helping them know what to expect in emergency situations.
"There could be a lot of head trauma, broken limbs. Again, people already have health conditions before any events happen, so we're gonna be looking just at the basics. We're gonna be checking airways, checking circulation," said Senior Nursing Student, Amanda Kazanizsky.
On FOX 40 News at ten, hear from students about why they treated Monday's drill like a life and death situation.
