Former New York Yankee Dishes on His Life in Baseball - 3/17/2010
From playing in the big leagues, to winning a world series, to keeping the score at NYSEG Stadium, his has truly been a life in baseball.Former New York Yankee Steve Kraly spoke about his years around the diamond Wednesday.
The former pitcher broke in to the majors after a stellar season with the Binghamton Triplets in 1953, and went on to win a World Series ring with the Bronx Bombers that year.
After going back to the minors, Kraly had a chance to return to the big leagues in 1960.
"My wife said to me 'well, are we leaving?' and I said 'where are we going, out to eat?' And she said 'no, aren't you going to go play,' and I said 'no, because you mean more to me, and that child and the one coming, than my career,' and I gave it up for my wife and my kids," Kraly said.
Kraly can still be seen around the ball field today, he's the official score keeper for the Binghamton Mets and has even been immortalized as a bobblehead.
