Members Needed for Relay Event - 2/9/2010

TIOGA CENTER, N.Y. (Feb. 3, 2010) -- In February of 2009, Amy Culver, Skyview Drags Track Director and Program Manager, learned that her mother had Stage III Colon Cancer. Following the diagnosis, and throughout months of receiving chemotherapy and treatment, the American Cancer Society offered support to her mother who was without adequate insurance. Now, with her mother's cancer in remission, Culver wants to support the efforts of the American Cancer Society so others can be given the life-saving treatments offered to her mother.

Skyview Drags announced today that it will be forming a team to participate in the Tioga County Relay for Life planned for July 23 and 24 at the Candor High School in Candor, N.Y.

The event, which welcomes teams to camp under the stars and walk the track, raises dollars to support the American Cancer Society’s search for a cure. This year’s event is themed “Mardi Gras”, and will welcome teams to decorate their tents to align with this theme, and utilize the theme in creative fundraising efforts.

The Kick-Off for the 2010 Relay for Life of Tioga County will take place on March 22, 2010. The event will be held at the Countryside Community Center located at 9 Sheldon Guile Blvd. In Owego and will begin with registration and refreshments at 5:30 p.m.

Amy Culver, Skyview Drags Track Director and Production Manager, is looking for members of the community to join the track’s team, and is requesting interested participants to call (607) 687-9392,  or email - aculver@skyviewdrags.com to sign up.

Culver also anticipates several fundraising events to be planned during the track season, and will be posting updates on those efforts on the Skyview Drags website located at www.skyviewdrags.com.

More information can also be found about the Relay for Life event by visiting www.acsevents.org. Also, at this site, you will find information about the American Cancer Society, survivor information, and what you can do to help in the fight for the cure.
