Paterson: Let SUNY Schools Set Own Tuition Rates - 1/16/2010
A measure from Governor David Paterson could result in a change in tuition at SUNY schools. In a proposed change Paterson plans to announce Tuesday, the State's public universities would be allowed to set their own tuition rates.
Currently, all tuition changes must be approved by the State Legislature.
Paterson says he's making the proposal because Albany has too much control over the way the schools spend money.
Binghamton University has laid out an agenda in response to the governor's proposal which includes expansion of enrollment, hiring additional faculty, and the construction of new buildings.
